Archive for the ‘Place mats’ Category

I have followed the lovely Alissa’s pattern to make these placemats for my friend in Sydney.

Her only request was for me to use cobalt blue and white.

They are a bit larger than your standard Australian placemats or table settings at about 14 by 19 inches.

I think it gives them character.

I don’t have enough of any one colour to bind them though, so I’ll have to use several colours for a scrappy look.

Now to find time to quilt them! I plan on using a straight line technique.

I have also found my all time favourite modern quilt – made by the lovely Blooming Poppies.

Her work is so inspirational! Definitely check out her blog.

My FRIENDS swap package is finished, packaged and posted. Sorry Candace that it’s running late. The postman said it will be with you between 3 and 10 days. I wont open my package until you receive yours – then we’ll pretend its an early Christmas and open them together.

Here are a few photos of the gifts I made.

I also stopped in quickly at Spotlight this morning and picked up some gorgeous yellow flannelet fabric. I’m really looking forward to starting our baby cousin Annabelle’s quilt this weekend. I will post photos as I potter along.

Happy quilting!

I have been working on a new project for my FRIENDS swap partner Candace so I wont show you the final product.

I’m still not confident with what letter this falls under but I’m leaning towards ‘S’ – Sunny. For obvious reasons.

The pattern is based on Elizabeth Hartman’s pattern from her fabulous blog Oh Fransson!

Three blocks…. a few more to go. It’s been a delight to be reunited with my sewing machine.

Sorry about the blurry images – my lenses needs a clean.

More project fun to follow.

Well introductions are in order!

I’ve been quilting for the last 18 months now and took some quilting 101 lessons in Adelaide early last year. Needless to say; I’m hooked!

I’ve recently been inspired by the lovely Alissa and her gorgeous blog and have used her placemat pattern for my stripy creation!

A nice present for  mother’s day I think.

I will endeavor to take better photos (I’m more used to landscapes).

Happy quilting.
